I Got Them Last Mile Blues

Demand for new network growth is occurring at the edge. No longer is it numbers of connected homes and business; now it is how big is the pipe? Providers, for various reasons, are not filling this demand for more bandwidth as fast as users wish. IMS if anything will accelerate these trends. Holding back gives the providers some breathing room, as their current management models will not support a glut of new connections using many new network products and technologies. Hopefully they will use this time to develop new grid based management technologies.
